The company has launched “bubbly,” a new flavored sparkling water in a direct challenge to Coca-Cola. Pepsi creates a new challenge for Coca-Cola and said that the water has an “upbeat and playful sense of humor to shake up the sparkling water category.”
Pepsi announced eight flavors under its new Bubly brand including lime, strawberry, orange, mango, grapefruit, lemon, apple, and cherry, and the company calling them as limebubly, strawberrybubly, orangebubly, mangobubly, grapefruitbubly, lemonbubly, applebubly, and cherrybuby.
For each flavors, packaging will come with its own greeting on the tab, like: “Hey u,” “yo,” and “hiii,” as well as there will be “personal messages” on the can” “hold cans with me,” “love at first phssst,” and “I feel like I can be open around u.”
Pepsi is expected to report its fourth-quarter earnings per share of $1.31 on Feb. 13.
Vice president of PepsiCo North America Beverages’ Water Portfolio, Todd Kaplan said that Pepsi saw an opportunity to innovate” in the sparkling water category by developing a new product with a new brand.
Consumption both Coca-Cola and Pepsi colas in favor of water have been declining. According to Pepsi, its new flavored sparkling water is made without artificial flavors or sweeteners and they have no calories.
Coca-Cola is also taking part in favor variations as it has also added Georgia Peach and California Raspberry to its soda line and launched “brand rejuvenation” for Diet Coke. Its new packaging designs and flavors include Diet Coke Twisted Mango, Diet Coke Feisty Cherry, Diet Coke Ginger Lime, and Diet Coke Zesty Blood Orange.
